*If you don't have time to read this full blog post, be sure to at least pay attention to the 4 tips below:

1. Walk your landscape twice this week checking for issues.

2. Stay on top of weeding because extra watering can cause weeds to spread fast.

3. Plan to cut back watering schedule next week (another email will remind you).

3 Tips for Success with Your New Sod:

We hope that you will be out in your yard enjoying your new landscaping this week. While you're enjoying it, we want to give you a couple of things to watch out for to ensure its long-term success.

1.Get Off My Lawn:

Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino must've had new sod he was protective of, and you should be too (although, you don't need your rifle). Pet traffic and dog urine can damage new sod, so keep the activity on the sod minimal.

2. Get it treated

One of the top reasons new sod fails is no protection from Sod Webworms, Chinch Bugs, Invasive weeds, and Disease. Pests love brand new sod (hence the name "sod webworms"), so it will attract all of your neighbors' pests. If you aren't already on a lawn application program, we offer one that gives you a 1-year warranty on your new sod.

3. Wait to Mow:

Sod, especially St. Augustine grass, grows up faster than it sends roots down. Don't mow until you can grab the grass blades and lift up without it separating from the ground (tap roots), which is typically about 3 weeks. When you do mow, make sure to mow on the highest setting.
