With last week marking the official beginning to Fall and temperatures begining to drop in the evenings, a popular question for this time of year about your Gainesville Lawn and Landscape is How often should you run your irrigation system?

From mid-September to November you can water you lawn roughly 25% less than you did in the summer months.  Thus, if you have a typical sprinkler head system, you are allowed to water twice per week (per GRU and the Water Management Regulation), The Master's Lawn Care recommends you run your sprinklers early in the morning, for 25% less than you did during the warmer summer months (Although not much water had to be used this year due to the abundance of rain).  Setting your controller for start time of 6am should allow enough time in for the roots to soak up the water before the sun begins to evaporate the excess water.

If you have a seasonal adjust spot on your sprinkler controller you can leave the minutes and days alone and just set the seasonal adjust percentage to 75%. (25% less than the normal summer settings) See YouTube Video.
