Whether we are ready to admit it or not, fall is only about 6 weeks away. As the evening temperatures start to cool down, many changes are taking place in your yard. Soil temperatures will begin dropping, leaves on the trees will soon start falling, and the dynamics of your landscape will begin to change.

This time of year is ideal for both prevention and planting.

Prevention -  This is the time of year lawns start to struggle with chinch bugs and webworms, so it's the perfect time to make sure your lawn is healthy and has been sprayed for protection. As the old saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Planting - Anything that gets planted in the fall will establish a deeper root system and will have a more healthy growth habit than when planted in the heat of summer. If you've been wanting to enhance your curb appeal or to re-sod your lawn, now is the time to act. Shrubs and flowers planted now will not only look good through fall when many people have visitors for football weekends, but also through the holidays as we head toward Thanksgiving, too. This is the time of year to prepare your landscape for it to be at its fullest potential, and it will continue to pay dividends for years to come.

A good key rule to keep in mind, is that when football season arrives, it is lawn application and planting time. If you have plantings or an area you would like help with in adding some curb appeal, TMLC is always here to help.
