I’ve been working in the Gainesville lawn care for over a decade, and in doing so we’ve really figured out a few secrets on how to keep your Gainesville lawn really green, and lush.
Gainesville fertilization is so important to your lawn and a key element to having good grass. Gainesville Lawn Fertilizing should be done minimally 4 times per year.
1.Once in the early spring. (March or April)This is also a good time to aerate your lawn, so that your Gainesville Lawn treatment goes straight to the roots with nutrients. This removes little chunks of dirt, it allows the air to circulate in the ground better, and the ground absorb more fertilizer. It’s good to get this done every couple years. It's also not a bad idea to use pre-emergent herbicide mixed in with the fertilizer to help keep control of weeds such as crabgrass and rattlesnake weed in your Gainesville lawn.
2. Once in the late spring or early summer. (Apr-Jun) This is when the lawn is using up all of its stored energy from the winter, and also weeds are ready to come up with full force also. This is a good time to use a Gainesville weed and feed fertilizer application.
3. Then again at the end of the summer. (Jun-Aug) There are so many bugs out in the summer, and this is a good time to use a fertilizer with insect control in it. Specifically, a Gainesville lawn pest program that treats for chinch bugs and sod webworms. In our area, these two pests are very prevalent in St. Augustine grass. If you have shady spots in your lawn, invest in a good does of Gainesville lawn Fungus control with a trusted fungicide.
4. Then lastly, but also the most important time is the fall. (Sep-Nov) This is the best time for the grass to rejuvenate after a hot summer that stresses Gainesville lawns. This is when it absorbs all the fertilizer, and also it cools off more at night, and has dew in the morning. It’s the perfect setting for your grass to get healthy from the roots up.
If this seems overwhelming, of course there are always professional Gainesville lawn care companies that will have a tailred program for your needs. But, for the DIY'er, this is the best way to go to care for your Gainesville lawn!
